BOOM: Bill to Protect Travelers From Highway Blockers in EPIC Way

Leftist “protesters” have regularly flouted the law and blocked highways, creating a dangerous situation for law-abiding Americans trying to get from point A to point B. In some cases, these leftist criminals have used the opportunity to try to harm or intimidate drivers. In response to this criminal activity, a bill in Tennessee has been put forward that would begin to put the law on the side of common sense.

Sen. Bill Ketron (R-Murfreesboro) filed a bill in the Tennessee General Assembly on Thursday that would give drivers immunity from civil liability if they hit a protester that is blocking traffic.

“A person driving an automobile who is exercising due care and injures another person who is participating in a protest or demonstration and is blocking traffic in a public right of way is immune from civil liability for such injury,” the bill reads.

The Tennessean reported:

If a driver intentionally hits a protester or acts in an otherwise careless manner, they will not be immune from civil liabilities, according to the bill.

Recent protesters in Nashville have clashed with traffic as demonstrators close or block parts of major roadways. During a recent protest in front of the Nashville offices of Tennessee Sens. Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander Metro Nashville Police responded to an incident where several demonstrators ended up on the hood of a passing SUV.

“Five or six protesters were on the hood of an SUV,” Nashville Police Capt. Greg Blair told The Tennessean. “The driver drove about 100 feet to a TigerMart (gas station).”

This bill follows a nationwide wave of legislation targeting protesters with similar driver protection orders to proposed laws that would hold demonstration organizers financially liable for police overtime pay.

If passed, the bill would go into effect July 1.

It is not a “peaceful protest” when malcontents break the law and block a highway. Drivers should not be forced into dangerous situations because some protesters decide to flout the law.

If you want to protest, fine. Follow the laws.

That’s the problem, however. Leftists don’t think they should have to follow the law. They hate this country and as we’ve seen, they are eager to use violence and other forms of criminal behavior to push their radical agenda and tear it apart.

Fortunately, millions of Americans are clearly not going to stand for it, and Tennessee’s common-sense move is a step in the right direction toward law and order.
