ICYMI: Mike Rowe shares how Meryl Streep ruined dinner and a date … 30 years ago

Last weekend, Meryl Streep revealed her disdain for average Americans (and laughable lack of sports knowledge) while accepting a lifetime achievement award at the Golden Globes. Streep was rightly lambasted for her condescension by social media users, with Conservative Review Editor-in-Chief Mark Levin also weighing in on the star’s virtue-signaling fail.

But one of the best Streep disses came from former “Dirty Jobs” host Mike Rowe, who took to Facebook to recount his rocky history with the award-winning actress, which dates back about three decades.

In 1986, Rowe’s girlfriend at the time duped him into seeing the film “Heartburn,” starring Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson. He wanted to see the thriller flick “Aliens.” Here’s how that turned out:

So, instead of watching Sigourney Weaver sashay around a spaceship in tiny underpants, fighting aliens that popped out of her crew mates abdomens, I watched Meryl Streep pretend to fall in love with Jack Nicholson. Afterwards, we got into an argument at Bennigan’s and broke up during the appetizer. All in all, one of the worst dates I’ve ever had, thanks in part to a truly unconvincing performance.

Then came the ultimate jab:

“But I’d sooner go through it all again, before watching a repeat of The Golden Globes.”

Stinger. Meryl, we hope you’ve learned your lesson.
