Camila Cabello Gives Pro-DACA Performance on ‘Today Show’ Says It’s for the ‘Dreamers’

Cuban-born American pop artist Camila Cabello had a politically charged appearance on the “Today Show” Friday morning, dedicating per performance to “the Dreamers.”

“This is for the Dreamers,” Cabello said before kicking into her set which also featured percussionists donning shirts that read “I stand with the Dreamers.”

Towards the end of the show, Cabello reaffirmed her belief in the United States.

“This is America,” she said. “The America we love, where no matter your race, your color, your beliefs or where you came from if you have a dream, you can make it possible.”

Many online praised the singer’s display of support for the DACA program recipients who are now in limbo after President Trump’s decision to end the policy last month:

Democrats have said that they’ve reached a deal with the president that would see DACA legislation signed into law.

And while Trump has waffled publicly on the agreement, he also showed support for allowing the “Dreamers” to stay:

“Does anybody really want to throw out good, educated and accomplished young people who have jobs, some serving in the military? Really!”

When asked if she thinks the president will follow through on his promise, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said: “I trust him on it.”
