Future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning Could Considering 2020 Senate Run

Peyton Manning is a two-time Super Bowl champion and is a lock for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Manning might be looking to add “U.S. senator” to his resume, according to a Republican legislator from the state of Tennessee.

Manning might be looking to “Volunteer” his skills to the Senate after the retirement of GOP Sen. Bob Corker, as Rep. Scott DesJarlais (R-TN) told Business Insider.

“[Manning] is a great guy and a popular guy,” DesJarlais said.

As Business Insider clarified, DesJarlais said that Manning might not be aiming for Corker’s seat. Instead, he could be looking deeper into the Senate draft, such as Sen. Lama Alexander’s seat in 2020 should it become open.

One candidate in the running for Corker’s seat is Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), as the New York Post reports. She has already publicly expressed interest in the Senate seat.

“She’s been a strong conservative voice,” DesJarlais said of Blackburn. “And she’s a thoughtful person who’s always been supportive of the president. I think she would be formidable.”

If there’s one thing we know about Manning and celebrity runs for higher office, it is to never count anyone or anything out.
