Sean Spicer Says Trump Laughed at ‘SNL’ Skits and Called in Staff to Watch

Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer says President Donald Trump enjoyed “Saturday Night Live’s” take on his administration, even sometimes calling staff members into his office to laugh at skits.

“I think the president’s got a great sense of humor,” Spicer told The Blast on Tuesday. The reporter then asked the former White House insider whether or Trump ever “called you guys into the office to laugh about the skits?”

“There were a couple of times, sure,” Spicer said. “We had a good time about it.”

Spicer’s comments paint a more light-hearted response to the NBC show’s often negative take on Trump’s presidency than the president has shown in public. “Watched Saturday Night Live hit job on me,” Trump tweeted following an episode. “Time to retire the boring and unfunny show. Alec Baldwin portrayal stinks. Media rigging election!”

Back in December, Trump attacked the live sketch show again saying, “Just tried watching Saturday Night Live — unwatchable! Totally biased, not funny and the Baldwin impersonation just can’t get any worse. Sad”

While “SNL” has been scathing in its portrayal of the 45th president of the United States, the show did take flack for letting trump host during the primary season in 2015.

When asked if Spicer would ever consider hosting “SNL,” Spicer said: “We’ll see, if they ask we’ll have a conversation.”
