China Further Complicates Things After Making Big Statement After North Korea Nuclear Test

Tensions between America and North Korea has only increased after the rogue nation tested a hydrogen bomb.

The bomb created the largest artificial earthquake for North Korea to date. It was much stronger than the nuclear bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima.

Following the news, Secretary of Defense Gen. James Mattis (Ret.) said that any threat to the United States would be met with a “massive military” response. When a reporter asked President Donald Trump if the U.S. planned to attack North Korea for the test, he replied, “We’ll see.”

At the United Nations, U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley remarked that North Korea was “begging” for war, but urged a diplomatic solution. Then North Korea’s biggest ally, China, added their input to the situation on the Korean Peninsula. In the case of a military response taking place against North Korea, China’s statement only muddies the waters more.

Chinese Ambassador Liu Jieyi said:

“The situation on the peninsula is deteriorating constantly as we speak falling into a vicious circle. The peninsula issue must be resolved peacefully. China will never allow chaos and war on the peninsula.

The parties concerned must strengthen their sense of urgency, take due responsibilities, play their due roles, take practical measures, make joint efforts together to ease the situation, restart the dialogue and talks, and prevent further deterioration of the situation on the peninsula.”

Back in April, Chinese President Xi Jinping asked Trump to show restraint toward North Korea amid rumors of nuclear tests. Xi said that he doesn’t want a nuclearized North Korea and that China condemns the things North Korea does that violate United Nations agreements.

Trump doesn’t appear too interested in talking much further about the issue, though. On Sept. 3, he tweeted, “South Korea is finding, as I have told them, that their talk of appeasement with North Korea will not work, they only understand one thing!”
