Huckabee Sanders Tells Reporters to Cover Hillary Clinton Story After Russian Bombshell

Shortly before Thursday’s White House briefing, NBC News reported on the contents of possibly incriminating notes from the June 2016 Russian meeting at Trump Tower. That news broke too late for any reporters to ask about it, but White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders had her own ideas on who reporters should be covering, Hillary Clinton.

While the briefing consisted mostly of Sanders talking about the administrations plans for DACA, one reporter asked about a theory that suggests then-FBI Director James Comey decided against recommending prosecution of Clinton in advance of his interview of her.

Sanders suggested that “if it’s accurate,” it would support Donald Trump’s decision to fire Comey, and suggested that all the other reporters cover it, too:

“I am not sure if he is aware of that revelation. But if it is as accurate as they say it is, I think that would certainly give cause and reason that Jim Comey was not the right person to lead the FBI. Hopefully, all of your colleagues will follow suit in covering that story.”
