Job Openings Hit Record High Under the Trump Administration

Job openings continue to soar under the Trump administration.

As of the last business day in July, the U.S. economy saw a record-number 6.2 million jobs on the labor market. This represents an increase from 5.7 million job openings recorded on the same date two months ago.

As CNBC reported about the job openings breakdown:

Job openings grew in June most notably across professional and business services by 179,000, with health care and construction industries increasing the second and third most at 125,000 and 62,000, respectively.

The U.S. economy has been surging: The Dow Jones Industrial Average hit an all-time high of 22,000. The unemployment rate dropped to a 16-year low on the back of a strong jobs report. The Labor Force Participation rate is also stabilizing after falling to a 39-year-low.

“Economic growth has surged to 2.6 percent nationwide,” Trump declared at a West Virginia rally Thursday. “Nobody thought that number was going to happen.”

“Unemployment is at a 16-year low,” Trump also said. “But don’t forget, and I will never forget, the millions and millions of people out there that want jobs that don’t register on the unemployment rolls because they gave up looking for jobs.”

Some analysts fear that the surging economy is heading towards a severe course correction, however. but the job openings numbers suggest that employers are still willing to invest in prospective employees, indicating a generally positive outlook.

Trump is yet to tweet about the news.
