Bride Pulls Out Gun from Under Wedding Dress, Fires at New Husband

A Tennessee bride was arrested after allegedly pulling a gun out from under her wedding dress and firing it at her new husband.

Newlywed Kate Elizabeth Prichard was still in her wedding gown when police arrested her and took her to jail, according to NewsChannel 5.

The 25-year-old bride was reportedly drinking with her new husband James Jarid Burton, 30, outside the Clarion Inn motel in Murfreesboro, when the couple started to argue. Prichard then allegedly reached under her dress for the weapon.

“She pulled out of her wedding dress a 9 mm pistol. Pointed it at her new husband’s head and pulled the trigger,” Sgt. Kyle Evans with the Murfreesboro Police Department told NewsChannel 5.

But the unloaded gun did not discharge. Witnesses told police that the bride then allegedly loaded the gun and fired it into the air, causing nearby people to scatter.

Police who arrived at the scene were told by the couple that nothing was wrong.

“Both were very uncooperative with authorities. It was actually a witness who pointed us in the right direction,” Evans said.

Police recovered a spent shell outside of the motel and reportedly found the handgun in a motel bathroom.

“After the incident, she went to the bathroom and disposed of the weapon, hiding it in the bathroom,” Evans explained.

“Responding officers let the husband know the honeymoon was over and his new wife was going to jail,” he added.

Prichard was charged with aggravated domestic assault and was released from Rutherford County jail on $15,000 bond, says NewsChannel 5.

The bride had apparently shared on Facebook last month that she had just gotten a tattoo declaring that she was “Property of J-Rod,” a nickname for her soon-to-be husband, The Smoking Gun reported.
