MSNBC Celebrates Ratings Victory Despite Attacks from Trump

MSNBC is celebrating a ratings victory in the middle of a feud between President Donald Trump and Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, pointing to its bottom line as the real winner.

Although Trump tweeted that the show was “poorly rated,” Scarborough Sunday said the numbers prove otherwise.

According to numbers released last week by MSNBC, Morning Joe averaged of 997,000, viewers, setting a record for the network in the show’s 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. slot and defeating rival CNN show New Day.

“Congrats to the entire Morning Joe team for another record setting ratings month. You are amazing. Your hard work makes the difference!!” Scarborough tweeted Sunday.

‘Mika, Willie and I say thanks to the entire MJ team for all your hard work that led to another record breaking month. You’re the best!!’

Trump has characterized the show differently.

“I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don’t watch anymore). Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came … to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!” he tweeted Thursday.

Trump stuck to his guns Saturday with a follow-up tweet.

“Crazy Joe Scarborough and dumb as a rock Mika are not bad people, but their low rated show is dominated by their NBC bosses. Too bad!” he tweeted.

Although MSNBC was touting its ratings, not everyone was pleased with the network’s tactics.

“You don’t make evil statements,” said Brunell Donald-Kyei, the former chair of the Trump campaign’s diversity outreach.

“The things that they’re doing and saying about the president are sinister. They are beneath the dignity of our nation,” she told Fox & Friends Weekend.

“I’m a Democrat who voted for Donald J. Trump,” she said, attacking the hosts for using their show for their own “political, emotional joy” instead of providing unbiased information.
