AG Jeff Sessions to Testify Openly Before Senate Intelligence Committee

Attorney General Jeff Sessions will publicly testify before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Sessions will be testifying in regards to his role in the investigation of the Trump campaign’s supposed ties to the Russian government.

It was previously announced that Sessions would be testifying before the Senate committee, however, it was unclear until recently if Sessions’s testimony would be in a closed session or in an open hearing.

According to Politico, Sessions has faced scrutiny from congressional officials regarding his recusal from the Russian investigation.

Last week, former FBI Director James Comey told the Senate panel that he believes he was fired by President Donald Trump because he didn’t shut down the investigation into the president’s campaign.

Since Comey’s exit from the Bureau, Robert Mueller was appointed to lead the Department of Justice’s investigation; however, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Mueller after Sessions’s recusal from the case.
