Speaker Ryan: Trump’s ‘Loyalty’ Comment was Inappropriate

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) told Greta Susteren on Wednesday that President Donald Trump “obviously” acted inappropriately when he appeared to pressure former FBI Director James Comey for “loyalty” amid the FBI’s on-going investigation into the president’s associates.

Van Susteren repeated the president’s comments on her MSNBC show “For the Record,” and asked Ryan if Trump was “appropriate” when he asked for loyalty. “Obviously, I don’t think that is,” Ryan replied.

On Wednesday, Comey released prepared Congressional testimony in which he wrote that Trump previously expressed a “need” for loyalty. “I need loyalty, I expect loyalty,” Trump reportedly told Comey.
