John McCain to Australians: Trump Has ‘Unsettled Many Americans’ and Ticked Off Our Friends

Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain said during a Tuesday trip to Australia that President Donald Trump’s actions have not just rankled America’s friends, but also “unsettled” Americans.

McCain was expected to speak of the importance of Australia’s important ties with the U.S. during a foreign policy speech Tuesday in Sydney, Sky News reported.

“I realize that some of President Trump’s actions and statements have unsettled America’s friends. They have unsettled many Americans as well,” said McCain.

McCain met with top Australian defense and foreign affairs officials. He used his speech to argue Australia should not give up its alliance with the U.S. now that Trump is in office.
