Cuomo Fumes over Republicans Not Appearing on CNN…Could the GOP Be Avoiding CNN?

Chris Cuomo, host of CNN’s “New Day,” noted that he could not get a single member of Republican leadership to come on Monday’s show to talk about the firing of former FBI director James Comey….keeping in mind that President Donald Trump fired Comey nearly a week ago.

Cuomo said it in a reference to the idea that Republicans aren’t willing to defend President Trump, but it could be that just aren’t willing to appear on CNN. Which has some weight behind it when you note that the current President of the United States constantly calls the major news outlet “fake news” and talks about how cruelly and unfairly they treat him.

“It is a pickle the president has put his party in here,” Cuomo claimed. “But that’s what leadership is about, right? If you choose to ignore, you are in effect empowering whatever you ignore.”

In fact, recently, Trump denounced the full “CNN platform” and singled out Cuomo particularly.

“CNN in the morning, Chris Cuomo, he’s sitting there like a chained lunatic,” Trump reportedly said last Monday during an “on the record” dinner with several members of the media. “He’s like a boiler ready to explode, the level of hatred.”

The disdain evident when David Gregory pushed the narrative that Trump “tried to get [Comey] to pledge loyalty” — never mind that White House press secretary Sean Spicer refuted that claim, clarifying that the president wanted “loyalty to this country and to the rule of law.”

Let’s also not forget that panelist David Drucker also suggested that Republicans may be afraid of Trump and even referred to him as “the devil.”

“If you’ve already made your deal with the devil, so to speak,” he said, “you’re thinking to yourself, ‘If I let this devolve into a food fight, I get nothing.’”

What we do know is that the conflict between CNN and Trump won’t be subsiding any time soon.
