Angry Conservatives Boycott ABC Over Cancelling ‘Last Man Standing’

ABC’s abrupt cancellation of popular sitcom, “Last Man Standing,” has outraged many of the show’s fans, prompted boycotts of the network and at least two petitions asking for ABC to keep the show in its lineup.

One petition, titled “Save Tim Allen’s Show ‘Last Man Standing,” drafted and posted Sunday by someone with the handle “Deputy Matt,” garnered more than 11,000 signatures in less than a day.

“‘Last Man Standing’ stands out in the sea of network television sitcoms,” the petition states. “It is a show that appeals to a broad swath of Americans who find very few shows that extol the virtues with which they can identify; namely conservative values.”

The petitioner emphasized that the show wasn’t just about politics, but promoted family values by depicting a family whose members are able to work things out despite having differing political views.

It seems that the conservative Tim Allen character the network executives focused on.

“Last Man Standing is one of the only shows on broadcast television, and the only sitcom, that is not constantly shoving liberal ideals down the throats of the viewers,” Deputy Matt continued.  “And sadly, that is likely the real reason the show has been cancelled.”

While petitions have been made to call on ABC to keep Tim Allen’s show alive, social media became a place where fans of the show practically declared war against the network.

ABC announced the cancellation of “Last Man Standing,” despite it having favorable Friday night ratings and its ability to keep viewers tuned into the network.
