Kellyanne Conway Refuses to Allow Anderson Cooper to Make Comey Firing About Russia

After James Comey’s sudden dismissal from his position as FBI Director, President Trump’s Senior Advisor Kellyanne Conway spoke to Anderson Cooper on Tuesday evening.

While Conway did defend the decision, citing letters from Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in addition to a letter from President Trump himself, Cooper constantly referred back to the positive things Trump said about Comey during the campaign.

Cooper: The first thing is all about the [emails], I mean that first big thing …

Conway: The first thing is the FBI’s reputation and credibility, it’s right in the first paragraph.

The exchange proceeded to get worse from there…

Cooper constantly tried to connect the topic to Russia, suggesting that Sessions should not have any say in whether or not Comey was fired because Comey was in charge of the Russia investigation from which he recursed himself – but Conway wasn’t having any of it.

“This has nothing to do with Russia. Somebody must be getting $50 every time the word is said on TV, I’m convinced.”
