Exposing Hillary So She Won't Get Elected

Matti was Unaware of Socially Conservative Views that Tanked Army Sec. Nominee Mark Green

One might assume that General Mattis, as Secretary of Defense, would know the details pertaining to the candidates on the running for other military cabinet positions.

But sources within the Pentagon told the Washington Examiner that, despite recommending the former Army flight surgeon, Mattis was unaware of Senator Mark Green’s (R-TN) statements regarding the LGBT community:

Two Pentagon officials who spoke on condition of anonymity said Mattis appeared to have been unaware of the controversial public statements.

“The White House did the vetting,” said one official, but said Green was originally recommended by Mattis largely because of his military record. Most notably, Green tended to Saddam Hussein on the night he was pulled from his “spider hole” in Iraq and spent time with the dictator, eventually writing a book titled ‘A Night With Saddam’.

As for whether Mattis knew anything about Green’s public and social media comments, one official shook his head and said, “apparently not.”

Backlash from the LGBT community led Green to withdraw his nomination on Friday, making him the second potential Army Secretary (the first Vincent Viola) to back out after being chosen by the Trump administration:

Green’s statement read, in part:

“Tragically, my life of public service and my Christian beliefs have been mischaracterized and attacked by a few on the other side of the aisle for political gain. While these false attacks have no bearing on the needs of the Army or my qualifications to serve, I believe it is critical to give the President the ability to move forward with his vision to restore our military to its rightful place in the world.”

Mattis initially supported Green’s nomination, saying in March: “He had my full support during the selection process, and he will have my full support during the Senate confirmation process. I am confident of Mark’s ability to effectively lead the Army.”
