Former Buzzfeed Reporter Drops Insider Info in Response to Editor Claiming Staff Tolerates Conservatives

A former employee at BuzzFeed shocked social media after he released screenshots from alleged conversations between staffers at the company.

Tim “Treadstone” Gionet sent out a tweet on Wednesday stating that former employees at BuzzFeed not only treated him unfairly for being a conservative, but some were also discussing the assassination of president Trump in a manner that they thought would be funny.

Gionet’s tweet came in response to BuzzFeed editor-in-chief Ben Smith’s interview with Tucker Carlson on Wednesday, where Smith argued that “people are very respectable to the conservatives on our staff.”

Gionet then sent out screenshots allegedly from BuzzFeed’s internal Slack channel to Cassandra Fairbanks, a reporter with Big League Politics, to substantiate that his claims were valid:

Maycie Thornton, BuzzFeed’s Director of Social Media, is the person that suggested someone should assassinate president Trump.

Immediately after the screenshots were made public on Twitter, three of the BuzzFeed employees involved locked their accounts.

“This was not the first time BuzzFeed employees talked openly about wishing President Trump would get assassinated, they hated conservatives so much they even held an office party when Justice Scalia died. It was a toxic environment and you were declared a heretic if you were a Trump supporter, bottom line,” Treadstone told Big League Politics.

People across social media slammed BuzzFeed, Ben Smith, and the employees that were allegedly involved in calling for the assassination of a president.
