California Democrats Says They Are Working on ‘White House Shutdown’

A California Democrat responded to tweets by President Donald trump calling for a “good” government shutdown in the fall stating “our country needs a White House shutdown,” and he’s “working on it.”

The president posted a series of tweets Tuesday morning addressing frustrations conservatives may feel regarding the $1 trillion Omnibus spending bill, which funds the government for the rest of fiscal 2017, which ends in September.

Among other items objectionable for conservatives are the funding of Planned Parenthood, as well as sanctuary cities, but no funding to begin construction a border wall.

However, the White House quickly pointed out the bill completes agreements made last fall for the fiscal year budget, which started while Barack Obama was still president.

It also shows the fact that Republicans do not have a filibuster proof majority in the Senate, which Trump noted:

Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., responded to the president’s tweets writing:

The lawmaker represents a district in San Francisco Bay area and describes himself in his Twitter profile as serving on the House Select Committee on Intelligence, where he is “Connecting #RussianHacking #TrumpRussia dots.”

House Republicans did point out the victories they did achieve with this spending bill though:

But the biggest ticket item was a $21 billion in new emergency defense spending, without a corresponding increase in domestic spending, which President Obama always demanded.
