Man in Pickup Truck Refuses to Care About ‘May Day’ Protest!

May Day was once an ancient holiday meant to celebrate the coming months of summer, but it has now become an excuse for people to protest and riot for workers’ rights.

While cities across the United States held large protests, the protest in Durham, North Carolina, took a very interesting turn after one man and his Dodge ram decided they weren’t going to interrupt his plans.

According to ABC11, a large group of protesters was blocking South Mangum Street in downtown Durham, right in front of the Durham County Jail, when the pickup truck approached.

The group, holding signs and banners, tried to block the driver with their bodies, but he refused to stop, slowly driving forward and revving his engine.

One of the “safety marshals,” Christine Hawn, was not pleased with the driver’s antics:

“There were kids there and people with different mobilities that were not able to pick up and move.”

Others marshals described the moment to ABC11 as “scary.”

But before anyone could stop it, the truck was seen driving off, never to be seen again.

Luckily, no one was hurt in the confrontation and the protest was continued. The protesters carried signs for workers’ rights, raising minimum wage, immigrants’ rights, and better treatment for inmates at the jail.

The group then moved on to the city council chambers, where the members let the protesters shout their demands until they found something else to protest.
