Former ‘Deadliest Catch’ Star’s 3rd Run-in with the Law….He’s Gone Far Since Father’s Passing

Jake Harris is known best for his job as an Alaskan fisherman while appearing on the popular Discovery Channel show, “The Deadliest Catch.”

He, alongside his father and brother, showed viewers just how perilous making a living was for them on a daily basis. But no matter how stressful their job became, the three were always a close family.

However, Jake’s recent run-in with the law paints the picture of an entirely different person than the doting son viewers fell in love with.

In 2010, everything began to change for Jake….

His beloved father, Phil Harris, passed away that February after suffering a stroke. Jake told People that rather than a traditional, somber funeral, they decided to celebrate in their father’s honor:

“The old man, he had a lot of buddies. We didn’t want to make it really sad. So we picked somewhere the old man, you know, loved to go, and hopefully we will tell stories about what a good life he led.”

But his father’s death was no doubt an immeasurable loss in Jake’s life. Just weeks later, he was arrested and charged with a hit-and-run, as well as driving under the influence.

Then, in late 2016, Jake was brutally beaten and left for dead on the side of the road. He suffered a fractured skull and brain damage, but he made a full recovery, according to his brother. Josh.

And now, the 31-year-old has been arrested again. This time, for one count of felony theft and two counts of felony drug possession, according to TMZ.

He reportedly drove from Washington to Phoenix, Arizona, last week with an unnamed married woman for a “vacation.”

But on Friday morning, the woman contacted police to report that her car was stolen – reportedly believing that Jake had taken off with it.

According to TMZ, the woman found Jake and the car at a convenience store the following day and notified law enforcement. Once Phoenix officers arrived and searched Jake, they reportedly discovered he was in possession of Xanax pills and crystal meth.

TMZ reported that Jake confessed to police the drugs were for his “personal use.”

Jake has not yet entered a plea to the charges.

Although it isn’t certain if Jake’s string of legal incidents is an outcome of the huge loss in his life, it’s clear the young man’s family has reason to be concerned.
