President Donald Trump did an interview on ox with Maria Bartiromo this week.
In the interview, Trump claimed that Hillary would be going to trial if it weren’t for James Comey. He said he was very, very good to her.
When pressed as to why he wouldn’t ask Comey to step down, despite him letting Hillary Clinton walk, Trump told Bartiromo: “I want to give everybody a fair chance. Director Comey was very, very good to Hillary Clinton. That I can tell you. If he weren’t she would be going to trial.
From the Washington Examiner:
President Trump argued in a television interview that aired Wednesday that former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton would be “going to trial” if FBI director Jim Comey hadn’t been “very, very good” to her.
Speaking to Fox Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo, Trump was asked if it was a mistake not to ask Comey to step down and if it’s too late to do so now.
“No it’s not too late,” Trump said. “But you know, I have confidence in him. We’ll see what happens. It’s going to be interesting.”
Trump then brought up how Comey announced in July he wouldn’t recommend prosecution over Clinton’s email server while secretary of state.
“Don’t forget when Jim Comey came out, he saved Hillary Clinton,” Trump said. “People don’t realize that. He saved her life. Because I call it ‘Comey 1.’ And I joke about it a little bit. When he was reading those charges, she was guilty of every charge. And then he said she was essentially OK.”
When Maria asked Trump about getting a Special Prosecutor to go after Clinton, he said: “I don’t want to talk about that. I want to talk about positive.”
