White House Calls for Congressional Investigation into Obama Wiretapping Allegations

This weekend, Donald Trump claimed that the Obama Administration wiretapped Donald Trump, which prompted the White House to demand the truth about the situation:

White House spokesmen Sean Spicer elaborated further:

This just makes sense. If we are going to investigate connections with Russians, then we should also investigate whether or not the Obama administration used the power of the government to spy on an American citizen.

These allegations aren’t without precedent, the Obama administration ha to admit that they spied on and harassed Fox News reporter James Rosen.

Barack Obama issued a denial of personally ordering a wiretap of then candidate-Trump. That proves nothing. The Obama administration was exposed in several lies, including to Congress. We need answers now. We as Americans should know what our government is up to, which includes knowing whether or not the Obama Administration spied on Donald Trump.

Now, it appears as if the FBI Director James Comey has asked the Department of Justice to publicly disavow President Trump’s claims of the Obama administration wiretapping Trump Tower. So far the DOJ has refused to release any statement on the matter. The White House said previously that there would be no further comment from them until the issue is resolved. Despite what may be reported, it is not Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ calls to make on whether or not to issue a statement. He recused himself from anything related to the Trump campaign and as such is taking no part in the investigation.
