Dad of Aaron Rodgers Drops Sobering Truth About His Son— Fame Shattered the Bond With His Family

Aaron’s relationship with his family came to the forefront of conversation when his younger brother, Jordan, became a contestant on ABC’s “The Bachelorette,” which he later won.

While letting his future bride get to know him, Jordan began telling her about his family and how Aaron no longer talks to them.

The media quickly started connecting the lack of contact Aaron has had with his family over the years to the less-than-stellar start he had during the 2016 football season.

And although the quarterback was able to turn the Packers’ season around by winning the last eight games of the season and making it to the NFC Championship game, Aaron admitted back in August that he didn’t wish to discuss his family life in a public forum.

He explained to ABC 12 New:

“I haven’t seen the show, to be honest with you, so it hasn’t really affected me a whole lot.

As far as those kinds of things go, I’ve always found that it’s a little inappropriate to talk publicly about some family matters, so I’m just — I’m not going to speak on those things, but I wish him well in the competition.”

Jordan admitted to People Magazine in August that while he wished he could have discussed his family’s differences in private with his now-fiancée, JoJo, he didn’t have any time with her during the show that didn’t involve a camera.

The 28-year-old said that his goal while on the show was to be as honest with JoJo as he possibly could:

“You don’t get any time off camera. So, we’re talking about really trying to get to an engagement – you got to share everything. It had to be talked about.”

Now, Aaron and Jordan’s father, Ed, is adding to the discussion,

telling The New York Times that he believes Aaron’s rise to football stardom contributed to their ongoing feud, adding:

“Fame can change things.”

As The New York Times reports, Aaron is considered a hero in his hometown of Chico, California. Fans are always cheering for him, and his old high school football team looked to him for inspiration before going on to win the State Championship game in December.

Aaron even gave the young football players a pep talk before the big game via a video message. According to The Times, Aaron is still a big source of pride and joy for the California city, but it’s unknown why his relationship with his family is nearly nonexistent.

Ed says that Aaron hasn’t spoken to his family since a few month after his son started dating actress Olivia Munn in 2014. And when asked if he sees his relationship with Aaron getting any better, Ed simply replied by saying:

“It’s hard to tell sometimes.”

The brothers’ father also says that the “circumstance in which their private lives became national news was weird,’” and that “airing public laundry is not what he would have chosen.”

However, Ed also admits to the Times that he’s not mad it happened:

“It’s good to have it all come out.”

He continues:

“It’s complicated. We’re all hoping for the best.”

And while Ed and Jordan continue to talk about their relationship with Aaron, a source close to the football player tells People that the 33-year-old is doing his best not to add to the narrative.

The source explains further:

“Aaron has never wanted want to air this out in a public forum. He’s going through great precautions not to make things worse. You’re not going to see him on Oprah crying about all of this. He will deal with his family issues privately.”

Aaron and the Green Bay Packers will fight for the chance to play in Super Bowl LI on Sunday in the NFC Championship game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Unfortunately, it’s not likely that Aaron’s family will travel to Atlanta to watch him play for a second Super Bowl appearance like they did in 2011.
