Man Struggles to Free Girl from Burning Car, Says “in Jesus Name” and She Suddenly Breaks Free

A North Carolina man happened to be in the right place at the right time to save a woman from a burning car, and he believed he had a bit of divine intervention to help him.

Scot Love, who was in San Antonio managing a fireworks stand, said he had just lain down in his RV on Friday around 1 a.m. when he heard something that sounded like a vehicle crashing.

“I heard that all-too-familiar sound of like a pop, crash and a vehicle getting crunched,” Love said, according to KSAT.

He wasn’t wrong. When he looked outside, he saw a burning car on Highway 281. He rushed to the scene, where he helped another woman trying to get the driver out of the blaze.

“The front of the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames and the fuel had sprayed across so that you couldn’t get to the driver’s side door,” Love said. “Every time she opened the door you could hear the girl inside screaming.”

“She’s screaming, ‘You can’t leave me. I’m burning, I’m burning.’ In that moment my exact words were, and it just came out of my mouth and I didn’t think about it, I said, ‘In Jesus’ name‘ and I said it a second time, I said, ‘In Jesus’ name’ and the moment I said it a second time she said, ‘My legs are free’ and I reached in and I grabbed her under the arms and she came out like butter,” he said, reported KRON.

KSAT reported that Love took some pictures of the scene afterwards. He learned later that the woman was 22 years old and named Mishelle. Love reportedly spoke with her father, who said she was expected to recover from the accident.

What a miracle.
