Exposing Hillary So She Won't Get Elected

This Superstar’s Strange Request When Trump Asked Her To Perform at Inauguration

Whether or not Donald Trump gets certain people for his Inauguration is besides the point.

Nevertheless, some artists are being asked, such as superstar singer and YouTube sensation Rebecca Ferguson.

She said she’d be happy to perform, but only if she gets to sing an old civil rights protest song.

Under the title “Inauguration Ceremony,” posted to “TwitLonger,” Ferguson wrote:

I’ve been asked and this is my answer. If you allow me to sing “strange fruit” a song that has huge historical importance, a song that was blacklisted in the United States for being too controversial. A song that speaks to all the disregarded and down trodden black people in the United States. A song that is a reminder of how love is the only thing that will conquer all the hatred in this world, then I will graciously accept your invitation and see you in Washington. Best Rebecca X

For anyone unfamiliar with the 1939 Billie Holiday song, it was one of the first genuine civil rights protests songs. It was initially published as a poem in 1937 and addresses the lynchings that were common in the South – the “strange fruit” in the song are black bodies hanging from the trees.” Here’s the song sung by Holliday:

Here are the lyrics to the song:

Southern trees bear strange fruit
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root
Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees

Pastoral scene of the gallant south
The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth
Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh
Then the sudden smell of burning flesh

Here is fruit for the crows to pluck
For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck
For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop
Here is a strange and bitter crop

Will Trump take Ferguson up on the offer? Is she trying to make a tongue-in-cheek joke that somehow Trump or the Republicans are too racist to allow the song to be played?

Perhaps if she does sing the song it will show that Trump isn’t the racial boogeyman that the left have made him out to be.
